Singable Picture Book Catalogue
Today I'd like to share an incredible resource for finding Picture Books suitable for the music classroom.
As I've written about before, and as I'm sure you've experienced for yourself if you work in a music classroom, picture books can be an excellent addition to any lesson.

They're great for practising audience skills, finding form & patterns, singing along, call & response and simply for sharing and experiencing beauty and joy.
But it can be difficult to know how and where to find them.
Thankfully, Lisa Hampton has created an amazing database that lists picture books according to all sorts of categories and there are combinations of filters that you can use to whittle down what you're looking for.
You can search according to appropriate year level, according to occasion (eg. Christmas books), according to animal/habitat/ theme. You can also search according to song type (eg. Lullaby, sea shanty or protest song).
Many of the entries include links to where you can borrow the books (Trove) as well as YouTube links to both the music accompanying the book and read-aloud / sing-aloud recordings (perfect to leave for a CRT you're not sure will be comfortable singing!)
With over 500 books listed so far, this is an absolutely stellar resource to help you plan your next storybook segment in the music classroom!
